Sophia’s Story

Last year, we started on a project for one of our clients, and we want to share the finished video production with you. This emotional story came to us from one of our usual clients. One of the goals was to do the video documentary style, using nat sound, shooting with just one camera, and letting the voices and images of the family and Sophia tell the story. Sophia’s parents struggled for years before finding out what the rare genetic disorder was that has afflicted her, and we were honored to have had the chance to tell her story. She is a sweet, adorable, young lady who we keep in our prayers.

Working with the client, this video went through a number of revisions and script changes. We all worked extremely hard to make sure that we got everything right, and that the finished video told Sophia’s story in the most honest and truthful way.

From a tech standpoint, we shot the video with a Canon C500 in 4K. DP Chris Francis ran a small, local crew to stay as unobtrusive as possible. We shot in Houston for 2 days, one day doing b-roll and interviews, and another day of b-roll and interviews with the family. We then filmed on more interview here in San Diego later on at the client offices. We then did post-production back here in San Diego at the 100 Acre Films HQ. Editing was done in Premiere Pro by Eric Addison, and the color grade was done in Resolve by Brian Hutchings.

As mentioned, we were extremely honored to have been chosen to help tell this very emotional story. The fact that our client trusted us to share it with the world meant a lot to everyone here. We hope the story moves you the way it moved us.
