Canadian Dairy Farmers Project

In October of last year, one of our clients contacted us about working on a video that would focus on how their technology was helping dairy farmers in Canada with their breeding of cows. As we always love working with this client, we jumped at the chance. We spent two days in Tavistock, Ontario (about 2 hours west of Toronto) filming at Athlone Farms. 100 Acre Films sent camera op/director Eric Addison to work on set, and the rest of the crew were hired locally. We were tasked from the client to capture the flavor of the farm, the daily routine, and find images that helped tell the story of how genomic information is giving farmers an edge when it comes to breeding. We shot two interviews, and used a drone for some overhead shots of the farm. All in all, the shoot went well, and we were able to capture some great moments.

One note to our fellow production people – something that we
learned on this shoot is when it comes to international travel, some airlines
are much stricter about overhead baggage size. We flew Air Canada direct to
Toronto from San Diego, and our camera bag (which we take as a carry-on) was
just a bit too big for their size restrictions. After a discussion with the
gate people, we were able to get our bag on the plane, but it was a lesson to
remember that while airlines here in the States are pretty lax about those size
restrictions, not all airlines are. And finding that out ahead of time can save
some stress.

We’re pretty proud of how the video turned out, and hope you
enjoy it. If you’ve got a story to tell, 100 Acre Films would love the chance
to help you tell it. For over 15 years now, we’ve been working with people and
companies both local and beyond with video production, helping them tell their
stories to the world. Let us know if you’d like us to help you tell the world
your story.
