Jonah Ventures Video Project

Last year, the 100 Acre Films team took off for Boulder, Colorado to work on a project to highlighting a company called Jonah Ventures and their use of our client’s technology. To learn more about what they do, check out the video we created.

We had a two day shoot while in Colorado – one day at the office and labs, and one day out on location. The office/lab day was broken up into half the day to film the interviews, the other half to get the b-roll. Working some locally hired crew as well, the day went smoothly.

The second day was spent out at two local creeks and a bison range. Being able to film the scientist collecting samples with large bison about 25 yards away was definitely a new and exciting opportunity. Using a long 300mm lens on our Sony FS700 camera, we were able to get some really amazing footage.

Once back home, the post-production process on this took a bit longer then normal. Our client had internal script writers who went through various drafts before finally settling on one for us to start editing with. Editing in Premiere Pro, director/editor Eric Addison went through the hours of footage to tell their story. With so much great footage from the amazing locations, it was hard to select which to use. But the story always informs which shot is best. Once we locked picture, it went off to the amazing Brian Hutchings who did a great job color grading it.

After 3 versions, we thought we were wrapped, but the client made one final change. While we always respect our clients wishes and deliver to them the finished video they want, the version we are showing you here is our final version of the video. We feel this version was a bit stronger than the one the client wanted. And we are happy to say that we just learned that this video was a 2020 Telly Award winner. We hope you enjoy the video.
